Academic Contribution to the WordPress Ecosystem
This project is part of an academic contribution to the WordPress community through the Polyglots team, responsible for translating WordPress, its plugins, and themes into different languages around the world.
WordPress is one of the most widely used content management platforms globally. Its open source nature allows contributors from different countries to participate in its development, improvement, and adaptation to multiple cultural and linguistic contexts.
I decided to contribute in the translation area because it represents an accessible way to participate in open-source software projects. Through translation, it is possible to help more people use technological tools in their own language, reducing barriers to access to knowledge and technology.
Before starting this project, I had general knowledge of WordPress as a content management system, but I was not familiar with how the translation teams operate within its community. This project made it possible to explore how global collaboration works within the WordPress ecosystem.
To participate in this process, it was necessary to create an account on WordPress.org, which provides access to the contribution tools used by the community, including the official translation platform translate.wordpress.org.
Creating an Account on WordPress.org

Contributions made by volunteers around the world allow WordPress to be a truly global platform, available in multiple languages and accessible to millions of users.
